Manchester & District Table Tennis Junior team this weekend earned promotion to the Premier Division of the Lancashire & Cheshire League.
Manchester’s juniors completed a series of comprehensive wins against other junior teams from leagues in the region, including Wirral, East Lancs, Oldham, Southport and Warrington.
The team will now compete in the Premier Division next season. Four players formed the squad: Reuben Holliday, Ahab Isaac, William Gregson and William Hoyle. Each of the players play for Stockport Table Tennis Academy in the Manchester League and were selected for the 2014-15 season Manchester Junior team.
Head Coach, David Hulme, said: “the Manchester team fully deserved their success today, having narrowly missed out on promotion last season. Each of the players have been training hard this season and have gained valuable experience playing in the Manchester League and the Cadet and Junior Leagues. And that showed across the two match days, with a series of comprehensive wins.”
Manchester Juniors won all five of their matches over the two match days in division one, dropping just 5 sets from a total of 30:
Manchester 4 : 2 East Lancashire
Manchester 4 : 2 Southport C
Manchester 5 : 1 Wirral
Manchester 6 : 0 Warrington C
Manchester 6 : 0 Oldham B
