Two of Stockport's top young table tennis players won runner-up trophies at the Cheshire Junior Championships this Sunday.
Nine year-old Will Gregson secured his place in his final in a very competitive under elevens age-band. Will easily came through his qualification group and after a series of strong wins in the knockout rounds went down to the number one seed Harry Watson in the final.
Fourteen year-old Daniel Clarke delivered a series of convincing wins in the knockout rounds of the under 15s and under 18s. Daniel lost out to Kin Fung Chan in the under 15s final before turning the tables to beat the same player in the under 18s later in the day.
Will Gregson and Daniel Clarke both started playing table tennis mid-way through primary school and are now two of the North West region's top junior table tennis players. Will and Danniel are founding members of Stockport Table Tennis Academy which is currently recruiting beginners - both girls and boys age seven up - to join training sessions at Priestnall High School on Tuesdays and Stockport College on Thursdays.
