Stockport Table Tennis Academy yesterday claimed the runner-up spot in the Halton NCL division two.
Stockport's first team of Will Gregson, Callum Gordon, Charlie Ainsworth and Rueben Vollam-Halliday yesterday ended it's first competitive season by claiming the runner-up position in division two of the Halton National Cadet League.

Stockport Table Tennis Academy was only formed in 2011 to develop junior table tennis in the Stockport area. Its head coach, David Hulme, said: "to finish in second place in a very competitive division shows how much progress the academy has made in just a short space of time. Each of our players were taking part in competitive table tennis for the first time and can be very proud of this achievement."
The youngest member of the team, Will Gregson, the week before had clinched the under thirteen's runner-up plate prize in the Blackpool Junior Open: "this is another strong achievement from a player who at just nine years old is showing signs of possessing the dedication needed to progress far in the sport," added Hulme.
